Last lesson with James - Progress

Today is the last lesson with James and I am trying to make the most of it by focusing on editing my initial sounds. I don't have much yet but I hope through editing them I can realise what I don't know about Pro Tools and get James' immediate help.

I have used all the sounds that I want from the the sound list already. Some of them don't sound like what I expected so I will re record them. The rack of the soundscape is ready to put more stuffs in. If you look at the tracks, pink ones are mono and blue ones are stereo.

The track "Mono traffic" is the general environment which is the road. When the characters are in the balcony, it will be more quiet. When the girl cross the road, it will more loud. There is a gap in the middle, leaving room for the experimental part of the soundscape. At the end it is a constant humming that I got from a big truck. It is hinting that he is traumatised seeing his girlfriend's death. I am not quite happy with this track yet. I recorded these sounds with a external mono mic instead of the built in stereo mic so I will like to re record it.

The Mono 1, 2 and 3 are prepared to mix some car accident sounds.

The Mono skidding is the sound of the skidding of the car. I am quite satisfied with it but think it needs a low frequency sound to solidify it. I will try to record it on Wednesday when I have the Foley Room.

The "Rain lightening" is perfect. I am glad that I decided to record it that night.

The "Experimental" track is for when the guy witness his girlfriend's dead and shortly after that. The only track on it is for right at the end of the experimental part that pulls him back to the reality. I got this sound from a jet, loved it.

I will have more tracks like "Crowd noises" to build a richer sound for the environment. Also, I need to write my script for the voice over. Everything seems good right now and I know what I will need to do. On Wednesday I will have the Foley Room so I will update my progress here after that.
